Re: Somerset, KY Reunion Sept 12, 2020?
So far, I haven't heard anything one way or the other, either here or on the Facebook page.

30 April 2020 Tree Update
I just redid the Ping Family Tree files with a lot of updated information. The tree now contains in excess of 19.000 descendants of John Ping, plus additional information on some of the individuals who were in the last update (better dates, spouses, and a lot more links to additional resources such ...

First Tree Update of 2020
I've been trying to post an update to the tree online since last month, but I keep finding more people to add to the database. This update puts the tree over 18,400 individuals who descend from John Ping; to the best of my knowledge and belief, that makes what's on this site the largest and most com...

Redesign - Y or N?
Everyone, What would you think of a change in the "flow" of the site, where you'd first get a regular static Web page, and the forum (what you're looking at now) would be accessible via a link off the home page? It's a little more traditional look, and it would make it possible to put somewhat more ...

Re: Family Tree Updated
Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with a good solution to making the tree on here editable, but I would be more than happy to add any and all information you may wish to provide. If you have more material than would fit into a post here on the web site, the "Contact" button to the right of this post...

I'm still cranking along on researching relatives. Just so everyone has an idea just how many people there are in the Ping tree, here's a snapshot count by generation of where we're at right now: 5 Jan 2020 Descendants of: John Ping Descendants Spouses Generation 1 1 1 Generation 2 8 11 Generation 3...

Re: Well? What do you think about this site?
There are some areas that I think could be improved, but off the top of my head I can't come up with a good way to do it. One big one would be a group editable family tree. There's a package available that could be installed called "webtrees" that's meant for that very purpose. The administration is...

Re: Why was Bolin Green Pings middle name, Green?
Green, Greenup, and Greenberry were somewhat popular boy's names in the early to middle 1800s. My own direct male line includes a man named Greenup Raney (1846-1912) from Pulaski County, KY who married John and Lydia Ping's great granddaughter Martha Pointer; he usually went by "Green". My tree data...

Re: John Ping Sr. - French and Indian War service?
For the benefit of those readers unfamiliar with the source being cited, I quote here the passage being discussed, verbatim: CAPT. THOMAS PING, law and real estate business, was born in Somerset, Pulaski County, Ky., July 30, 1815, and received his education in the old-time subscription schools of h...

Welcome to the web site!
My job here is making sure everything runs the way it's supposed to, and keeping the family tree section updated and accurate.

Re: My line
I thought I heard someone mention my name! :) Scott: I have everybody in your Ping line as far as Wade Parkey and Nina York... of course, there's not a census out yet that any of their children would be listed on. Aside from Hargis (and Niagara Hargis' parentage is still an open question), I think t...

Just did a refresh of the Ping family tree section; this update adds around 300 people to the last update in November.

Terry Lee Ping
I'm going to do something a little different here. Terry is, of course, related to our common ancestor John Ping. Oddly enough, his paternal grandmother shares a common ancestor with my mother. I'll go ahead and document both here. John Ping (1740-1823) & Lydia Bradley - William Ping (1772-1850) & M...

Welcome to the site!
Over in the Queries section, I just traced a tree for another member who also descends from John Ping's grandson William; as far as I know, she's your nearest relative on here (the Facebook group may have someone closer to you).

Question for the Group
I had a thought earlier today while replying to a post in Queries, and wondered what everyone would think of the following: In the associated Facebook group, I've posted "uplines" for a number of individuals who wondered if or how they fit into the broader family tree. Would there be any interest in...

This took a little work, but I have you worked into the tree: John Ping (1740-1823) & Lydia Bradley - Robert O Ping (1785-1858) & Jemima Smith -- William Ping (1808-1867) & Elizabeth Reid --- Thomas B Ping (1831-1882) & Mary E Keefe ---- Thomas Andrew Ping (1862-1903) & Laura Alice Bright ----- Fran...
